MOTH-HAIR AND SONNE_
GAFFA GALLERY, SYDNEY
In association with group exhibition Re-Representation, McLoughlin’s series Moth-Hair And Sonne_, draws distinct parallels to strange phenomena through the course of symbiosis and the dependency of all being’s thirst for vitality.
As a mother feeds her son, so do the tears of specific fauna feed moths and butterflies. An opulence, found cradled in the bossism of brassy gold casts; antonymous to the frailty of its adorned taxidermy. Where glass prosthetics read emblematic to our all-seeing eye, it is the tear falling of our climate mourning that bares the true significance of the moth – siphoning the well dry.
Moth-Hair And Sonne_ asks you to reflect on bettering your connection with the environment so that the environment can better its connection with you.
